Review of Canada Goose Spring 2024 Ad Campaign by Creative Director Haider Ackermann and Photographer Willy Vanderperre with models Haider Ackermann and Jane Fonda
Following the unexpected and exciting announcement of designer Haider Ackermann as its first creative director, Canada Goose has launched a purpose-driven campaign highlighting his first release. The campaign was shot by photographer Willy Vanderperre.
Ackermann’s first release for the iconic outerwear brand is a hoodie created in support of Polar Bears International (PBI), which is at the forefront of efforts to study, understand and protect polar bears and their declining habitat. The hoodie, available in four colorways, is made from organic cotton and 100% of proceeds from the sale of the sweatshirt will go to PBI to fund vital research, implement innovative conservation strategies, and educate communities about the importance of protecting the Arctic.
Vanderperre’s simple campaign imagery star the legendary Jane Fonda – who has been an outspoken environmental and antiwar advocate – alongside Ackermann himself. The portraits have a feeling of warmth and directness, leaning with quiet confidence into the surprising yet welcome news of this unique collaboration that is sure to generate plenty of conversation in the digital fashion forum. Credit goes to the ever-talented Movement Director, Stephen Galloway.
While the campaign doesn’t do too much to answer our many questions about what Canada Goose by Haider Ackermann will look like, it is a great way to start this new chapter with direction and purpose.
