A New Collaboration Celebrates Porter’s 90th Anniversary With Quilted Embroidery and Japanese Craftsmanship
For her first collaboration with Porter, Cecilie Bahnsen brings her couture-inflected sensibility to three of the Japanese bag maker’s most iconic silhouettes, marking a union of craft, function, and emotional resonance. The project, launching August 22nd, 2025, also commemorates the 90th anniversary of Yoshida & Co., Porter’s parent company.

The Copenhagen-based designer reimagines the mini bonsac (which doubles as a handbag), a shoulder bag, and a full-sized backpack using Porter’s bonded nylon and original hardware. The utilitarian structure of each silhouette is softened through a romantic lens—laser-cut nylon florals, embossed patent appliqués, and quilted embroidery introduce texture, shine, and a touch of femininity. The bags come in three colors: black, olive, and light blue.
To me, Porter nylon bags are iconic,” says Cecilie Bahnsen. “I remember buying my first one, the balloon bag in black nylon, when I went to Japan for the first time in 2015. To now collaborate with Porter—transforming familiar forms—feels deeply meaningful.”
While the collaboration is rooted in function, it resists spectacle. Instead, it embraces the quiet power of well-made objects—those that endure in memory and daily life. “It’s a romantic act,” Cecilie reflects, “curating memories while deciding what to preserve and what to reimagine.”

The campaign, shot in Tokyo, follows this ethos. Rather than overproduced imagery, it captures unguarded moments—bags in motion, textures catching light, and a city that holds personal meaning for both Porter and Bahnsen. Tokyo becomes both backdrop and character, a subtle presence in a story that prioritizes intimacy over flash.
The collaboration forms part of Bahnsen’s Pre-Fall 2025 collection, which itself is a meditation on nostalgia and feminine creativity. In that context, the bags become more than accessories: they’re emotional objects, built for real life yet steeped in sentiment.
The Cecilie Bahnsen x Porter collection will be available on ceciliebahnsen.com and through select global partners beginning August 22nd.
