Kaia Gerber is effortlessly cool in a new campaign from Celine. Creative director Hedi Slimane photographs the young supermodel in Monaco for the Spring 2021 campaign.

Gerber made her only runway appearance of the spring/summer 2021 season at Celine’s olympian-like show in Monaco. She and Slimane found some time on that trip to snap the elegantly cool photos that make up this new campaign.

Looking incognito in a ball cap and dark sunglasses, Gerber perfectly embodies that disaffected youthful coolness that Slimane has been exploring in his recent collections and campaign imagery. The looks feel like an elevated version of what we might see Gerber wearing in one of her own coveted, everyday street-style ensembles.

In some of the images, Slimane captures her in lavish marbled interiors, while in others she lounges by a hotel pool. The juxtaposition of sophistication and casual cool feels like a fitting image for the versatile work of both creatives.

Slimane makes a smart choice in working with Gerber, whose personal style has been a crucial touchstone for the Gen-Z spirit that he has sought to tap into. The campaign excellently brings these two creative personalities together, and presents us with an undeniable vision of the it-girl look for spring 2021.
