The appointment signals a strategic move as the house sharpens its brand narrative in the lead-up to Blazy’s debut.

Chanel has appointed Ruth Warder as its Global Chief Communications Officer. Warder, who previously led Edelman’s UK and Ireland operations, will join the house’s global leadership team in a newly established role that brings Chanel in line with other luxury houses, such as Valentino and Burberry, that have formalized top-level communications positions.
The appointment comes as Chanel prepares for a new chapter under incoming creative director Matthieu Blazy and works to refine its business strategy following a period of softer consumer demand. In its most recent financial results, the house reported declines in both revenue and operating profit. Warder’s expertise—particularly in guiding corporate narrative, sustainability strategy, and the evolving landscape of AI-driven communications—is expected to play a key role as Chanel strengthens its global voice.
In the interim period, Chanel’s in-house creative teams have leaned on legacy storytelling across collections and marketing. Warder’s appointment signals an intent to further sharpen this narrative as the house continues to evolve within an increasingly dynamic luxury landscape.
