Review of Chanel Coco Neige Fall 2022 Ad Campaign by Remembers collective and Virginie Viard
Chanel explores an animated winter wonderland with a new campaign for its Coco Neige 2022 collection. The animated campaign was created in partnership with animation and production agency Remembers Studio.
Remembers also teamed up with Chanel previously on a teaser campaign for the house’s Métiers d’art show, and now returns to bring a similarly fresh and whimsical aesthetic to the latest drop of its ski collection. Using animation techniques like rotoscoping, the film starts from live action film and photographs of a model which are illuminated by animators and artists, taking off into a dreamy visual world of mountains, clouds, and snow. Signature Chanel codes are reinterpreted as retro sportswear graphics, which the film makes burst and bloom with a pop-art energy.
Playfully revisiting familiar brand iconography through a fresh new visual lens, the campaign is both an assertion of Chanel’s values of collaborative creativity and a lush aesthetic expression of the mountain-minded energy of its Coco Neige collection.
