Initiative Features Danish Artist Mie Olise Kjærgaard’s Works
Chloé Arts, an initiative dedicated to female empowerment, aims to celebrate outstanding female talent, support emerging artists, and foster interdisciplinary conversations in the arts. Chloé Creative Director Chemena Kamali explains,
Chloé is about intuition, freedom, and the celebration of women. Mie’s work speaks to all these elements. Her paintings portray women who make their own defined choices.”
For its inaugural edition, Chloé and Kamali have invited Danish artist Mie Olise Kjærgaard to showcase her work. Kjærgaard states, “The women in my work have stopped worrying about people’s expectations and are deep into pursuing their own desires and interests. I am intrigued by the feeling of using one’s energy with freedom to some sort of max; like hitting a tennis ball satisfyingly perfectly. This freedom is a privilege, it’s a dream, and it matches well with Chloé’s spirit.”
Kjærgaard’s work spans painting, sculpture, and installation, with her large-scale paintings focusing on themes of female liberation. Her subjects are women who have shed societal constraints to engage in activities like cycling, tennis, or music, depicted from a female perspective.
Eight paintings, including one exclusively commissioned by Chloé, are currently on display at the Chloé Paris flagship store. This exhibition coincides with the release of Kamali’s first collection for the fashion house.
