The Special Presentation Featured Channeled 1950s Water Ballet and Ballroom Theatricality
Christian Louboutin brought a unique spectacle to Paris Fashion Week, transforming the Art Deco Piscine Molitor into an Olympic-themed showcase for his Spring 2025 collection. Collaborating with director David LaChapelle and choreographer Blanca Li, Louboutin staged an aquatic performance featuring the French artistic swimming team, adorned in waterproof Miss Z heels. Inspired by 1950s Hollywood water ballets, the show blended nostalgia with modern flair.
“What is beautiful is to inspire ourselves in the past to create something of today,” LaChapelle remarked, referencing the show’s homage to Golden Age aqua musicals. The set included red arches, shimmering Louboutins, and a slide leading directly into the pool. Notable attendees like Halle and Chloë Bailey, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, and Tom Daley watched as the swimmers performed in retro bathing suits designed by Fifi Chachnil, with LP providing a live soundtrack.
In a twist that mixed drama with humor, the performance began with a staged fire rescue, leading to the reveal of a pair of glistening Louboutins. This was followed by the French Olympic team’s synchronized routine, showcasing the Miss Z heels. The night culminated with Louboutin himself, LaChapelle, and LP sliding into the pool, embodying the show’s playful, unpretentious energy.
