Christophe Marque Named President and CEO of Gucci Americas
Christophe Marque has been appointed President and CEO of Gucci Americas. The change takes effect on April 1st. Marque has more than 25 years of experience in retail management, brand building, and merchandising.
His predecessor, Federico Turconi, left Gucci Americas last October to become the CEO of SA Hospitality Group. The latter operates 14 Sant Ambroeus outlets, 12 Felice, and one Casa Lever restaurant. Cayetano Fabry, who temporarily took on the role of Chief Commercial Officer at Gucci, ended his tenure last fall, transferring from Saint Laurent. Marque will now report to Fabry.
Marque began his corporate journey at L’Oréal Luxe, assuming various roles in commercial, retail, and general management. He worked with most of the group’s luxury brands in Asia and Europe, including Lancôme, Giorgio Armani, and Yves Saint Laurent. Later, after more than 10 years, he became the General Manager for fragrances France & Benelux at Hermès, where he created their first beauty subsidiaries.
Subsequently, Marque became part of the DFS Group, a luxury products retail subsidiary of LVMH Möet Hennessy Louis Vuitton. There, he assumed the position of President Global Merchandising, liaising with all significant luxury fashion, jewelry, and watch brands. In addition, he undertook the role of DFS’s Executive Vice President for Marketing.
On another note, Gucci’s CEO Stefano Cantino is focusing on developing new teams in key areas, streamlining actions, and honing the decision-making process. Cantino replaced Jean-François Palus as CEO and reported to Francesca Bellettini, Deputy CEO of parent company Kering, from the start of this year.
Recently, Francesco Falai, who was once Gucci’s Senior Vice President for Global People, Retail & Business assumed his new role of Chief People Officer, succeeding Luca Bozzo. Furthermore, as of December, Valérie Leberichel joined Gucci as Senior Vice President of Global Communications, reporting to Cantino.
Leberichel, the previous Global Vice President of Communications at Givenchy, filled the role after Alessio Vannetti, Gucci’s Executive Vice President and Chief Brand Officer, exited in November. Cantino has introduced a new Vice President of Digital Marketing and Media, filled by Marcello Mastrogiacomo, who hails from Armani Beauty Global. Daniela Raganato, a former Valentino employee, was appointed Global Media Director.
In September, Davide Buzzoni moved from Loro Piana to become the Global Communications Director at Gucci. In addition, after leaving Prada, Massimo Vian became Gucci’s Chief Industrial and Supply Chain Officer, proving to be a key hire for the company.
