Review of Church’s Holiday 2024 Ad Campaign by Creative Director David James and Photographer Phil Poynter with models Daisuke Ueda , Harvey James
Church’s celebrates – and festively subverts – a legacy of British sophistication with its Holiday 2024 campaign. The campaign features creative direction from David James and photography by Phil Poynter.
The festive narrative unfolds against the historic St. Giles house in Dorset, the ancestral home to the 12th Earl of Shaftesbury. The styling leans into this legacy of aristocratic elegance, casting its trio of characters in a nostalgic light. Yet the joy of the holidays quickly overcomes any sense of societal inhibition, and soon they are dancing on tables.
It’s a recognizable holiday narrative that gets a fun twist through the strong, historically minded set design and styling, emphasizing what changes and what stays the same. While a bigger cast would have made this feel like a real party, the dual sense of sophistication and unabashed celebration still definitely come through.
