Review of Colombe d’Humières Fall 2023 Ad Campaign with Photographer Mark Lukasavage with models Salem Hu, Celio, and Zora
Colombe d’Humières blends industrial elegance with expressive intimacy in its new campaign by photographer Mark Lukasavage.
Though its name may make it sound like an old-timey French jewelry house, Colombe d’Humières was founded in 2020 and is in fact quite youthful and progressive in its design vision and branding approach, synthesizing Parisian couture craft with Brooklyn neo-punk.
The campaign is an intimate and direct statement of this character, using simple yet evocative portraiture with a cast of half-dressed, coolly androgynous models. A hand adorned with silver rings clutches a glass of milk in front of a stick-and-poke tattooed chest; a spiky and organic necklace of silver and lab-grown gems lends direction to a sensual snap of pale clavicles.
Relying confidently on just the strength of its designs and a well-chosen cast, the campaign is a focused statement of the brand’s principles of queer community, gender neutrality, and elevated self-expression.
