The Award-Winning Actor and Songwriter Will Host the Prestigious Award Ceremony in New York on Monday, October 28
Cynthia Erivo, the Tony, Emmy and Grammy winner and Academy Award-nominated actress and songwriter, will serve as host of the 2024 CFDA Fashion Awards. The prestigious celebration will take place on Monday, October 28 at the American Museum of Natural History.
The British actress, producer, singer and songwriter is known for such theater roles as Celie in the Broadway revival of The Color Purple, which earned her a Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical in 2016. She also starred in the movie, Harriet, portraying Harriet Tubman, for which she received Academy Award nominations for Best Actress and Best Original Song for “Stand Up.” Erivo stars as Elphaba in the highly anticipated movie adaptation of Wicked alongside Ariana Grande.
“As a born and bred Londoner, I can safely say that the U.K. has its own sense of style, but when I moved to New York almost 10 years ago, I was welcomed into the open arms of the New York fashion industry. I was blown away by its ingenuity and its flair, and I felt right at home. Style in America has clearly influenced me in the years that would follow my arrival, and style in New York has held me in the warmest of embraces. When I was asked to serve as the host of the 2024 CFDA Fashion Awards presented by Amazon Fashion, I naturally did not hesitate to say yes. I cannot wait to celebrate the nominees and honorees in a room full of people I am inspired by,” Erivo said.
