New exhibitions explore heritage, sensory experience, and the creative legacy of Provence
As part of its Spring 2025 programming, SCAD Lacoste has opened two thoughtful exhibitions—Jardins Rêvés by Dior Héritage and Unfold by DRIFT—that reflect the institution’s commitment to preserving and interpreting design legacy while advancing contemporary dialogues in art and fashion.
Held at SCAD FASH Lacoste, Jardins Rêvés is the first exhibition dedicated to Christian Dior in Provence. Curated by Dior Héritage, Christian Dior Parfums, and the Christian Dior Museum in Granville, it draws a clear line between the couturier’s childhood in Normandy and the aesthetic that defined his house. Garments and accessories span Dior’s near eight-decade history, including work by the founder himself and his successors—Yves Saint Laurent, Marc Bohan, Gianfranco Ferré, John Galliano, and Maria Grazia Chiuri—displayed against the lavender-rich landscape of Lacoste. The exhibition quietly reinforces how the natural and cultural backdrop of Provence continues to shape the visual language of Dior.
Nearby, Unfold by Dutch studio DRIFT invites visitors into an immersive, audiovisual space where digital simulations respond to human biometrics in real time. Through botanical geometries and shifting light, the work examines the relationship between organic and computational systems, pushing viewers into deeper engagement with the act of perception itself.
While diverse in form and tone, both exhibitions are emblematic of SCAD’s mission to champion craft, heritage, and forward-thinking inquiry. Since its arrival in the Luberon Valley in 2002, SCAD Lacoste has evolved from a restored medieval village into a working campus and cultural venue, hosting programs in fashion, fine art, architecture, and design. By situating Dior’s historical reverence and DRIFT’s speculative vision side by side, SCAD once again positions itself not only as an educational institution, but as a thoughtful curator of global creative dialogue.
