Maria Grazia Chiuri Will Present Her Collection at the Historic To-ji Temple in Kyoto on April 15
Dior is set to showcase its Pre-Fall 2025 collection at the historic Tō-ji Temple and Gardens in Kyoto, Japan, on April 15. This event marks the continuation of Dior’s global presentation strategy, following shows in Seoul, Mumbai, and New York City. Tō-ji Temple, established in 796 and recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1994, is one of Kyoto’s most significant cultural landmarks, originally serving as a guardian temple for the city, which was then Japan’s capital and imperial seat.
This choice of location underscores Dior’s deepening engagement with the Asia Pacific region. The brand highlights this show as “a tribute to the passion for this fascinating country cultivated by Christian Dior and his successors,” emphasizing a blend of tradition and modernity.
Maria Grazia Chiuri, Dior’s Women’s Creative Director, elaborated on the historical ties between Dior and Japan, stating, “In the early 1950s, Christian Dior began collaborating with a Kyoto-based silk workshop: he subsequently designed a series of looks for his haute couture collection which he cut in the precious Japanese textile.” She described Kyoto as “the cradle of exclusive craftsmanship honed by generations of gifted artisans.”
The unveiling of this collection continues the house’s tradition of presenting the Pre-Fall line close to its retail launch, which is typically preceded by a December preview to the press. Following the Kyoto event, Chiuri is scheduled to present Dior’s cruise collection in Rome on May 27.
