Rouge Dior 2024 Ad Campaign

Review of Dior Rouge Dior 2024 Ad Campaign by Photographer Mario Sorrenti and Film Director Bardia Zeinali with talent Anya Taylor-Joy, Dilraba Dilmurat, Yara Shahidi, and Rachel Zegler

Dior celebrates the legendary power of a red lip with a new campaign for its freshly relaunched Rouge Dior lipstick. Starring a quartet of talented house ambassadors, the campaign was shot by photographer Mario Sorrenti and filmed by director Bardia Zeinali.

The campaign follows the interwoven stories of four house muses, each of whom are leading pop cultural figures and have graced multiple Dior campaigns before: Anya Taylor-Joy, Dilraba Dilmurat, Yara Shahidi, and Rachel Zegler.

Playing out across iconic Parisian locales, each of the scenes sees its starring muse bring to life an aspect of the Rouge Dior character, from the luxurious glamor of a fitting for a sumptuous ball gown to more introspective moments exploring one of the city’s iconic museums. In each vignette, an elegantly neutral color palette is punctuated by vivid pops of crimson, translating the lipstick’s signature shade into a visual world of its own.

The accompanying short film puts these scenes energetically into motion, pushing the visual motif that juxtaposes references to fairy tales and mythology with a definitively contemporary atmosphere. A soundtrack in the form of Depeche Mode’s iconic “Personal Jesus” further emphasizes the energy of individual freedom and expression.

Though beauty tends to make up a larger percentage of sales than ready-to-wear for big houses like Dior, beauty campaigns can often feel like an afterthought compared to the fully realized creative worlds of major seasonal campaigns. Here Dior breaks this mold, however, and wisely invests in a signature product by giving it a campaign treatment that uses the full force of the brand’s creative reach, calling on four impressive brand ambassadors and imagining a rich visual narrative that brings the house’s Parisian legacy boldly into the new year.
