Review of Donna Karan Fall 2025 Ad Campaign by Creative Director Trey Laird and Photographer Mikael Jansson with models Claudia Schiffer, Irina Shayk, Imaan Hammam, Liya Kebede, and Mariacarla Boscono
For its 40th anniversary, Donna Karan returns to its core ethos: effortless, sensual, timeless dressing for women across generations. The Fall 2025 campaign brings together five icons—Claudia Schiffer, Irina Shayk, Imaan Hammam, Liya Kebede, and Mariacarla Boscono—in a sleek interior that underscores the brand’s message of elegance and connection. Photographed by Mikael Jansson and styled by Jessica Diehl, the imagery is clean, modern, and understated, highlighting both the silhouettes and the women who embody them.
The collection itself leans on archive references while infusing them with a contemporary sensibility. Claudia appears in devoré velvet and draped knits; Liya layers python-effect outerwear with fluid separates; Irina delivers sharp tailoring with masculine edge; Mariacarla moves between silk gowns and relaxed knits; while Imaan dazzles in lustrous leather and a sequined gold gown. Accessories extend the narrative with sculptural bags, refined footwear, and oversized sunglasses that ground the looks in Donna Karan’s familiar city confidence.
If there’s a limitation, it lies in the spareness of the campaign’s visual language. The pared-back sets allow the clothes to breathe but at times feel almost too restrained, safe where they might have pushed toward something more evocative. The accompanying press release asks, “What makes a woman empowered, inspiring, invincible, unforgettable?”—a provocative framing, but one the campaign doesn’t fully answer. Instead, it relies on poise, composure, and the timelessness of its cast.
Still, as a milestone season, Fall 2025 makes its point: Donna Karan has always been about elevating daily dressing into something enduring. Even if the imagery plays it conservatively, the brand’s message of elegance and class resonates clearly.
