"Keep A Go" Film 2020

DSquared2 has released a short film with an inspirational message of hope for Italy and the world as we face unprecedented challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Sharing personal stories of their beloved grandmother Arcangela Catenacci and her words of wisdom, along with family films and photos, DSquared2 Creative Directors Dean and Dan Caten encourage us all not to give up no matter what we are facing, “Keep a go”, never lose hope, and never surrender.

It’s unclear whether the voice-over is Dean, Dan, or a combination of the two… but regardless they deliver a message to have faith that the world will come together, and “…together we will fight. And together we will win. Even if fighting means staying at home”. The idea of the world coming together to combat the virus is playing out in a tremendous way through the fashion industry’s swift and sweeping response; fashion conglomerates have donated millions to local and global health organizations, hospitals and families of health personnel lost to COVID; additionally, myriad companies have committed resources to producing masks, hand sanitizer, and other items essential for combating the virus.

The world coming together in solidarity is mentioned in the short film, but its main purpose is to address the emotional and psychological impact of the pandemic. The threat to life and health of not only oneself, but family, friends, and coworkers, combined with economic pressures and the isolation of self-quarantining is an overwhelming combination; subsequently Arcangela Catenacci’s advice as channeled through her grandsons is timely and heart-warming. In these times of strife, the film reminds us to keep our chins up and try to accept changes as they come, by facing these new challenges head-on. Furthermore, we are treated to a nostalgic bite-sized slide-show of the Caten’s idyllic upbringing. How cute are the vintage photos of the identical twin boys in their matching sweaters and sunny yellow polo shirts? How stylish is their grandmother Arcangela with her strings of pearls, floral corsages, and cat-eye horn-rimmed glasses? Now we know where the Caten brothers got their sense of style! Clearly it was inherited from their fabulous grandmother. Many thanks to Dean and Dan Caten for this personal and heartfelt message of hope!
