Review of Fendi Fall 2021 Ad Campaign by Creative Director Ronnie Cooke Newhouse and Photographer Craig McDean with models Rianne Van Rompaey, Malika Louback, He Cong, & Tianna St. Louis
Fendi celebrates Kim Jones’ debut ready-to-wear collection for the house with a first look at its new Fall 2021 women’s campaign. The campaign features creative direction from Ronnie Cooke Newhouse and photography by Craig McDean.
With his debut collection, Jones refocused the codes of the house, emphasizing a common thread of sophisticated, cerebral luxury. The styling selection here features a range of practical yet elevated looks, with an emphasis on accessories and a muted yet dreamy color palette of blush, light brown, gold, and black.
The campaign imagery makes excellent use of the incredible architecture of Fendi’s headquarters at the Palazzo della Civiltà Italiana in Rome. At once referencing classical Roman architecture while also having a distinct aspect of Italian futurism, the building is a simultaneous embodiment of past, present, and future – a fitting stage for Jones’ first collection, which guides a classically Fendi sensibility into a visionary new future.
With just a hint of surrealism, the arches and hallways of the building lend a nuanced sense of depth and dimension to McDean’s compositions.
This is shaping up to be an excellent debut campaign for Jones, and we look forward to seeing him continue to guide the house with clarity and precision.
