Review of Fendi Fall 2025 Ad Campaign by Photographer and Director Steven Meisel with models Vittoria Ceretti, Liu Wen, Lulu Tenney, Sora Choi, Ajus Samuel, Libby Taverner, Sang Woo Kim, Finn Collins, and Nonso Ojukwu
Fendi‘s Fall 2025 campaign arrives at a pivotal moment—not just in celebration of the house’s centennial legacy, but in the midst of a luxury landscape that demands bold articulation of purpose. Photographed by Steven Meisel, with creative contributions from longtime collaborators Guido Palau, Pat McGrath, Piergiorgio Del Moro, and Mary Howard, the campaign is undeniably polished. Yet in its elegance lies a question: what does this stillness really say about Fendi now?
Shot within a sepia-toned, mid-century interior evocative of the house’s Roman past, the images conjure warmth and restraint. The mirrored walls and softened lighting create a dreamlike cocoon, a salon of shadows where time folds in on itself. Models appear contemplative, poised, sometimes duplicated—as if caught in the quiet reverie between nostalgia and ambition.
There’s no denying the craftsmanship. From cocooned shearling coats and glinting embellishments to tactile accessories like the revived Spy Bag and Peekaboo Soft, the styling upholds Fendi’s fluency in material sophistication. The muted palette of cinnamon, laurel green, and chocolate plays nicely with the space. But the restraint—while beautiful—raises the question of whether beauty alone is enough.
Fendi, at its heart, is about duality: Roman classicism refracted through innovation, opulence tempered by irreverence, tradition reimagined. That ethos, under Kim Jones and Silvia Venturini Fendi, has sparked moments of sharp wit and expressive tension. But here, that tension is subdued. The campaign plays more like a well-curated mood board than a forward-facing manifesto. In a market asking brands to define their distinct cultural role, this campaign feels more archival than aspirational.
Which is not to say it’s unsuccessful—only that it may be too elegant for its own good. Fendi’s centennial deserves more than refinement; it deserves conviction. This campaign offers an exquisite whisper when perhaps the moment calls for a bolder voice.
