Men’s Spring 2024 Ad Campaign

Review of Fendi Men’s Spring 2024 Ad Campaign by Creative Director Silvia Venturini Fendi with Photographer Bruno Staub with talent Kuanghan Hsu, Jeremy Pope, & Massimiliano Caiazzo

Fendi offers a slick and colorful perspective on its celebration of fashion craft with its Spring
2024 menswear campaign. The campaign features creative direction by Nico Vascellari with
photography by Bruno Staub, and stars an international trio of acclaimed young actors: Jeremy
Pope, Kuanghan Hsu, and Massimiliano Caiazzo.

Presented in Florence as the designer spotlight at Pitti Uomo, Fendi’s Spring 2024 menswear
show was an ode to the Fendi factory, the Maison’s innovative hub in Capannuccia, outside
Florence. A fresh take on a modern gentleman’s wardrobe intersected with clever
reconsiderations of the workwear garments utilized by the leather artisans and tailors who craft
the house’s collections.

Considering the strength of this theme, the collection’s campaign doesn’t quite live up to its full
potential. Captured before a sleek, abstractly industrial stainless steel surface that creates a
scintillating gradient of colored lights, the portraits are slick and vibrant – but they don’t have the
sense of narrative and artisanality that a collection that is so expressive of Fendi’s identity
deserves to have. Why not shoot the campaign at the factory, where the runway show was
held? Why not have the real factory workers model the collection? Just that setting or unique
casting approach would have gone a long way to flesh out the world and creative intent of this
season’s great menswear concept.

While the portraits do succeed as a showcase for some of the collection’s key looks and
accessories, it’s hard not to think about the missed opportunities that could have given this
brilliant collection an incredibly memorable campaign.
