Fendi Unveils Arnaldo Pomodoro Exhibition in Rome

Fendi‘s Palazzo della Civiltà Italiana in Rome has become the venue for the captivating exhibition “Arnaldo Pomodoro: The Great Theatre of Civilizations,” which was inaugurated on May 12, 2023. Curated by Lorenzo Respi and Andrea Viliani in collaboration with Fondazione Arnaldo Pomodoro, the exhibition will be open to the public until October 1, 2023. Visitors can explore over seventy years of the artist’s work, featuring approximately thirty pieces created between the late 1950s and 2021, along with a collection of archival materials showcasing Pomodoro’s studio and artistic process.

This collaboration between Fondazione Arnaldo Pomodoro and Fendi reflects their shared commitment to preserving historical heritage while promoting contemporary artistic expressions and fostering sustainable innovation. The exhibition, designed for both the indoor and outdoor spaces of Palazzo della Civiltà Italiana, unveils Pomodoro’s autobiographical “theatre” that intertwines reality and imagination, history and fantasy. By presenting works such as “Forme del mito” (1983) and costumes from theatrical shows like “Costume di Didone” and “Costume di Creonte,” the exhibition explores the interplay between visual and scenic arts, showcasing Pomodoro’s profound connection to ancient civilizations and his ability to reshape our understanding of time, space, and history. The immersive experience continues with symmetrical displays of contrasting works, inviting visitors to delve into Pomodoro’s artistic journey and his exploration of geometric forms. The exhibition provides an exceptional opportunity to engage with Pomodoro’s masterpieces and serves as a gateway to further explore the artist’s significant contributions in Rome and worldwide.
