Spring 2023 Ad Campaign

Review of Ferrari Spring 2023 Ad Campaign by Creative Director Rocco Iannone and Photographer Paolo Roversi with models Mariacarla Boscono and Rapha Keijzer

Ferrari slows things down while maintaining its legacy of power and poise with an elegant and focused campaign for Spring 2023 shot by maestro fashion photographer Paolo Roversi.

Roversi brings his renowned photographic technique of painting with light to shooting the images, framing his deft and subtle portraits against a rich background of recognizable Ferrari red.

Framed by this backdrop, the styling creates a smart sense of similarity and unity out of the collection’s synthesis of workwear practicality and performance and glimmering Italian refinement and between the co-ed models A leather dress worn by Mariacarla Boscono represents a reconsidered version of the boiler suit worn by Rapha Kejizer at her side, emphasizing a sense of fluidity and dialogue. In another set of looks, the literal nuts and bolts worked into jackets at once harmonize and playfully juxtapose the glimmering metallic sequins of the top and dress worn underneath.

While the consistent in-studio approach might in some ways feel like a bit of a confusing choice at first for Ferrari – the company has such a wealth of cultural and design history to draw on in connection to its cars, the films they’ve been in, the famous people who have driven them – it actually feels humble and wise to eschew these references. Instead, by partnering with a master fashion photographer like Roversi and delivering simple and elegant images, Ferrari demonstrates the confidence they have in creative director Rocco Iannone’s designs; they are the clear star of the show, and they deserve to be.
