Soft Power
Review of Ferrari Spring 2025 Fashion Show

THE COLLECTION
THE VIBE
Sensuality. Soft strength. Movement.
For Spring 2025, Ferrari creative director Rocco Iannone steps back from the more structural silhouettes and motorsport references that have shaped many of his previous collections, instead working to find what Ferrari can be as an Italian luxury brand on its own terms.
Ferrari has heritage, but not, of course, in the same way a historic Italian fashion house that began as a fashion house does. As evinced by Iannone’s backstage moodboard that featured photos of Kate Bush posing with her Ferrari 308 GTS, the brand is working to find what a lived-in, considered wardrobe curated by an individual who brings as much discernment to their clothes as to their choice of car might be.
A somewhat softer side comes through much of the collection through a relaxed yet refined use of draped silks and sheers, while deep necklines and clinging knitwear lend some sexiness. Denim is softened and artfully distressed. While tailoring and utilitarian outerwear still anchor some parts of the collection, they are less in focus as Iannone instead explores how fluidity and softness can enter this conversation.
The most direct references to the brand’s iconic graphic heritage is the use of the Prancing Horse logo, but it gets more of a delicate handcraft treatment through embroidery, painting, and beaded appliqué. Another abstract print evokes the aspect of forward motion with a retro painting perspective. New riffs on driving gloves, structured bags, and fringe-detailed pumps round out the accessories offering.
THE DIRECTION
THE QUOTE
I wanted to express sensuality and simplicity with this collection. In thinking about what a complete Ferrari wardrobe can be, I was inspired by the cocooning effect of the interiors of the 70s cars, as well as some of the iconic figures who drove them.”
THE WRAP UP
While peeling back some of the more directly branded references bring the focus back to foundational design principles like fabric selection, cut, flou, and drape means that many of these pieces don’t feel like they belong to a distinctly Ferrari point of view, it is exciting to see Iannone ease up off the gas and consider what a foundational Ferrari wardrobe can mean. Meanwhile, he continues to cleverly incorporate the brand’s visual heritage from the world of racing, creating a take on Italian luxury that can stand both on its own and alongside its rival racers.
