The institution debuts its revamped space at Place du Palais-Royal with an expanded collection and modular architecture
Fondation Cartier pour l’art contemporain has opened its new headquarters in Paris, relocating to a 19th‑century building at Place du Palais‑Royal. The move marks a major evolution for the foundation, providing a larger, more adaptable space designed to host contemporary art across multiple disciplines.
The renovated building incorporates flexible gallery platforms and open volumes, allowing exhibitions to be reconfigured to suit a variety of media, from visual art and design to performance and film. Large windows and high ceilings create a connection between the city and the interior exhibition spaces.
The inaugural exhibition, drawing from the foundation’s permanent collection, presents a broad survey of contemporary works spanning several decades. The installation is designed to take advantage of the new space’s modular architecture, emphasizing fluidity and interaction between different artistic forms.
The relocation reflects the foundation’s commitment to experimentation and interdisciplinarity, providing a platform for both established and emerging artists while offering visitors an immersive experience in contemporary culture. The new Paris venue is open to the public with exhibitions scheduled throughout the year.
