Reclaiming body autonomy, in the face of laws stating otherwise, has seen the rise in the focus on the body across the runways, with sheer fabrics as the perfect method to conceal and reveal. Adding a dose of romance when utilised as a veil in layers as at Simone Rocha or sparking controversy when it’s use appeared heavy-handed at Saint Laurent.
The re-focus this season on semi-sheers and solid/sheer effects looked the most modern when included within collections such as Duran Lantink, especially as daywear. Adding a print or texture to chiffons looked newer and was seen at 16 Arlington and Altuzarra, while the sheer skirt trend continued where Miu Miu left off last season. The fabric was given an unexpected twist when mesh was styled gathered over shirts at Holzweiler and Dries Van Noten, when done in contrast colours it can serve to add a colour wash to minimalist looks.
