Longtime executive steps in amid succession plan following founder’s passing
Giorgio Armani Group has appointed Giuseppe Marsocci as its new chief executive officer, marking the beginning of a new leadership era for the company. The move follows the death of founder Giorgio Armani in September and signals a clear direction for the brand’s succession strategy.
Marsocci, 61, has spent more than two decades at Armani, holding senior roles including deputy managing director and global chief commercial officer. His appointment was put forward by the Giorgio Armani Foundation, which holds a significant share of voting power within the company.

The leadership transition will see Marsocci report to the board chaired by Leo Dell’Orco, with Silvana Armani, the founder’s niece, named vice president. This structure reflects Armani’s succession plan, designed to ensure stability and maintain the brand’s identity during a pivotal period.
A key part of this transition also includes the planned sale of a minority stake in the company within 18 months, as outlined in the founder’s will. The move is expected to shape the group’s strategic direction and reinforce its global positioning.
On taking the role, Marsocci stated: “We will do everything to perpetuate the (Giorgio Armani) business model and his idea of beauty, and we will carry it forward with consistency and sensitivity, taking into account the values and expectations of a changing world.”
His appointment underscores the group’s intent to preserve the founder’s vision while adapting to an evolving fashion landscape.
