Givenchy Names Li Bingbing as Brand Ambassador for China

Givenchy has announced the appointment of Chinese actress Li Bingbing as brand ambassador for the Chinese market.

Li joins Givenchy as its third China spokesperson and notably becomes the first to be selected following the departure of brand creative director Matthew Williams last December.

In May of last year, Chinese actress and singer Esther Yu was appointed as a brand ambassador in China. Two years ago, Gen Z celebrities Fan Chengcheng and Nana Ouyang were designated as China brand ambassadors; however, Ouyang’s partnership with the brand concluded last year.

Expressing her excitement about the appointment, Li stated, “Givenchy has a long history and always been very charming in my impression. I am delighted to be joining the Givenchy family and look forward to more collaborations with the brand in the future.”

Li, aged 51, has garnered global recognition for her roles in Hollywood productions such as the historical drama “Snow Flower and the Secret Fan” and the American-Chinese thriller “The Meg,” alongside Jason Statham.

In recent years, Li has shifted her focus from acting to environmental causes, serving as an ambassador for WWF Earth Hour, a Goodwill ambassador of the United Nations Environment Programme, and the Shanghai World Expo Charity ambassador.

With over 42 million followers on Weibo, the popular Chinese social media platform, Li possesses significant influence. Prior to her appointment as China brand ambassador, Li also appeared in Givenchy’s Year of the Dragon Lunar New Year campaign earlier this year.

Li has previously collaborated with Gucci, first as a China ambassador and later as a global ambassador during the label’s Frida Giannini era.
