Altered States by Marco Brambilla Opens to the Public on May 10–11 During HAUS Week
Golden Goose opened the Biennale of Architecture 2025 by presenting a series of immersive artistic installations at HAUS in Marghera, Venice. The cultural platform, which serves as a space for the brand’s international creative community, invited artist Marco Brambilla to lead the project.
This year, HAUS was curated by Brambilla, an artist recognized for work combining historical art motifs with elements of modern pop culture and digital technology. Known for using visual and electronic mediums including virtual reality, video installations, and digital collage, Brambilla creates highly detailed compositions that reframe spectacle through a technological lens. His past work has been featured on the Sphere in Las Vegas, in Times Square, and exhibited at institutions such as the MoMA and Guggenheim, as well as the Venice and Sundance Film Festivals.
Brambilla’s project at HAUS, titled “Altered States,” is his most comprehensive exhibition in Italy to date. The show includes both existing work and new pieces developed specifically for HAUS. It investigates cinema as a dreamlike space, transforming the building’s industrial setting into a mutable landscape that merges digital and physical dimensions. Using film visuals and audio, the installation explores the overlap between dreams and the collective subconscious, guiding visitors through a series of environments defined by memory, desire, and fantasy.
The exhibition was curated by Jérôme Sans, known for his contemporary art programming and role as co-founder of the Palais de Tokyo in Paris. “Altered States” pairs familiar cultural visuals with dreamlike imagery, prompting viewers to consider how digital media influences our perception of the real world. Sans’ involvement contributes additional insight and complexity, reinforcing HAUS’s role as a multidisciplinary creative venue.
The launch event was attended by a diverse group of artists, musicians, and public figures. Guests included actresses Amybeth McNulty and Pratibha Ranta, singers Jack Savoretti, Samuel Romano of Subsonica, and Lorenzo Sutto, artist Fabrizio Plessi, museum director Amin Jaffer, and pianist Alberto Bof. Also present were Olympic skateboarding medalists and Golden Goose Global Brand Ambassadors Keegan Palmer and Cory Juneau, padel athlete Marta Ortega, content creators Coco Rebecca Edogamhe and Hannah Müller-Hillebrand, cultural entrepreneur Helen Nonini, and entrepreneurs Stuart Parr and Ozlem Onal. The evening featured immersive experiences and a culinary performance by Chef Paolo Griffa.
The public will be able to visit HAUS during HAUS Week on May 10 and 11. The programming will include performances, workshops, and discussions focused on art, culture, sports, and sneakers, all with the goal of engaging Venice’s local population and promoting creative exchange and freedom of expression.
