Gucci and Antwaun Sargent Join Forces to Celebrate Awol Erizku’s Book Launch

Gucci and renowned curator and writer Antwaun Sargent hosted a star-studded event at the Gucci Wooster Bookstore to commemorate the release of Awol Erizku’s highly anticipated book, Mystic Parallax. The celebration brought together an array of notable guests, including Adam Eli, ASAP Ferg, Cameron Welch, Chase Hall, Deb Willis, Gabriella Karefa Johnson, John Gray, Kathleen Lynch, Kerby Jean Raymond, Lauren Kelly, Lisa Sutcliffe, Lyle Ashton Harris, Michael Famighetti, Quil Lemons, Sanford Biggers, Sarah Meister, Sean Kelly, Whitney Mallett, and Willa Bennett.

Mystic Parallax, Erizku’s first major monograph, published by Aperture, showcases the artist’s expansive vision and multi-faceted practice that merges art history, personal experiences, and Pan-African thought and symbolism. The book offers a comprehensive exploration of Erizku’s work across various media, solidifying his status as an influential figure in contemporary art.

Guests were treated to a lively atmosphere as they mingled and connected with one another. The event featured a delectable selection of light bites and cocktails, including a special Ethiopian honey wine, paying homage to Erizku’s heritage. Attendees had the opportunity to immerse themselves in the Gucci Wooster boutique while having their copies of Mystic Parallax signed by the artist himself.

The event took place on Tuesday, June 27th, from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Gucci Wooster flagship store located at 375 West Broadway, New York, NY 10012. The Gucci Wooster Bookstore, a space dedicated to promoting and celebrating art and culture, provided the perfect backdrop for the launch of Erizku’s groundbreaking book.
