VANESSA REDGRAVE joins the cast of GUCCI in their Cruise 2017 ad campaign and fashion film by GLEN LUCHFORD & SIMMOND’S ltd.

The team of Gucci Creative Director Alessandro Michele, artistic director Christopher Simmonds, and photographer Glen Luchford have once again brought the Gucci family together for a seasonal narrative of romantic hijinx. However this season the crew has taken on a matriarch in actress Vanessa Redgrave who presides like a great aunt over the campaign.

Shot at the magnificent home of the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire, the Chatsworth House near Sheffield England, the campaign continues the exploits of the Gucci clan as they play with geese, hounds, and chickens around the estate. Models Conner Rowson, Dwight Hoogendijk, Ellen de Weer, Hannelore Knuts, Nika Cole, Nick Fortna, Sophia Friesen, Victor Kusma join Redgrave as she tends to the estates colorful grounds and quintessential British manor.

The video by Luchford blends a bit of old and new as well with hand help camera shakes, film grain, and a tight frame which eventually levels out to a wide pan as the film closes on a group shot of Vanessa and some of the young entourage with the manor in the background.

The campaign is a nice step in the evolution of the house as it brings family in, as well as the viewer as the images develop more of a narrative with multiple interest points that draw the eye in. Simmonds is wise to layer in multiple emotional touchpoints blending punk and flowers, gardening and generations, and the romance of a swing with geese and sunsets. It is visually engaging and tells a story of family, albeit a tad Wes Anderson in feel, that the audience wishes to be a part of. As it turns out geese aren’t the only groups that wish to flock together and we are confident the Gucci flock with gather behind the campaign.
