The International Festival of Fashion, Photography, and Accessories in Hyères witnessed Belgian sensation, Igor Dieryck, stealing the show with his groundbreaking collection. Currently a junior designer in menswear at Hermès, Dieryck’s collection titled “Yessir” delves deep into the dynamics between hotel staff and guests, inspired by his time working as a receptionist. Jury head Charles de Vilmorin labeled the collection as “hyper creative and desirable.”
Parallel to Dieryck’s win, Sweden’s Petra Fagerstrom grabbed attention with her collection inspired by her grandmother’s life as a parachutist in the Soviet Union. This unique collection, mixing upcycled materials with a poignant backstory, earned her two prestigious awards.
Swiss designer Gabrielle Huguenot clinched the accessories grand prize with her audacious designs, while Thaddé Comar’s photography documenting the 2019 Hong Kong protests captured the 7L Photography Grand Prize.
The Hyères Festival, established in 1985, not only celebrates emerging talent but has historically amplified the careers of noted names like Viktor & Rolf and Anthony Vaccarello of Saint Laurent. This edition highlighted the undeniable promise and innovation of today’s young designers.
