Istituto Marangoni Miami Celebrates Art Basel with Innovative Programming

Exploring Innovation and Collaboration, Istituto Marangoni Miami at Art Basel

Istituto Marangoni Miami gears up for Art Basel, curating a diverse lineup of events to coincide with the highly anticipated art fair in Miami. From Tuesday through Friday, the fashion school will host panels and activities spanning fashion, art, and design.

Recognizing Art Basel’s significance as a gathering of international audiences, Hakan Baykam, founder and CEO of IMM, emphasizes the school’s role in Miami’s vibrant ecosystem. “As a top fashion college deeply invested in art and design, it’s crucial for us to engage with this pivotal moment,” Baykam stated. “We aim to pioneer collaborations, open our doors, and be an integral part of Miami’s cultural landscape.”

The schedule commences with a sustainability and innovation panel featuring Vogue Brazil’s Nô Mello and the VP of marketing from Brazilian footwear brand Melissa. Continuing the momentum, IMM presents a cocktail reception in partnership with Italian design company Kartell, unveiling a 2024 design competition offering a student the chance to see their furniture design prototyped.

Baykam highlights the strategic selection of participants based on brand synergy and the potential for impactful partnerships, ensuring meaningful engagement for students and attendees.

The week concludes with a panel discussion featuring rapper Kid Cudi and Laure Hériard Dubreuil, founder and creative director of the Webster. Kid Cudi will collaborate with the school for a pop-up of his Members of the Rage brand, hosted on campus and supported by the Webster. Proceeds from the pop-up, open until December 15, will contribute to the IMM Scholarship Fund.

In recognition of his influence and contribution to the fusion of hip hop and fashion, Kid Cudi will be honored with an honorary master’s degree in fashion design. Baykam acknowledges the significance of this award, citing Kid Cudi’s considerable potential within the industry’s evolving landscape.
