Review of Jacquemus Olympics Fall 2024 Ad Campaign by Creative Director Simon Porte Jacquemus
Jacquemus gets ready for the Olympics with another brilliant extension of its clever approach to digital marketing.
Drawing on the brand’s predilection for communicating its signature style through visual puns and practical effects, the series of brief video clips posted to the brand’s Instagram account form a kind of DIY take on the world of summer sports, captured on what is probably an iPhone camera in the countryside beyond Paris. One video sees a diver splash into a kiddie pool; in another a swimmer does the breaststroke in a converted truck bed. One mind-bending clip makes us think that a Jacquemus-clad tennis player is collapsed on the court, only to reveal that it was a play of perspective and she is indeed standing up. The larger-than-life bags make a fun return, as does the concept of unconventional vehicles – in this case, a bed driving down a country road.
Jacquemus continues to set itself apart with some of the most creative and fun campaigns in the game. At a time when many brands’ campaigns are shot in front of a boring white wall or turning to AI to supplement human creativity, Jacquemus proves all you need is a vision.
