John Elliott’s announced their newest flagship at 853 Madison Ave. The space is located at 70th & 71st and serves as the brand’s fifth physical location, with 50 feet of store frontage on one of the most iconic and important stretches of retail in America.
2500 square feet of floor space expands off design language architect Stephan Wiemer developed for the brand’s Melrose Ave, Miami, Soho, and Aspen locations, refining the use of modular and utilitarian construction for an elevated presentation of men’s and women’s collections. Product represents the young luxury brand’s full range, showcasing artisanal leather pieces, Japanese denim, core Los Angeles made sportswear, and a complete Italian-made footwear program. An assortment of accessories will debut exclusively at this location, including modular leather bags, produced in Italy, and fine jewelry in collaboration with cult Japanese brand M.A.R.S.
Clean architectural elements that have defined John Elliott retail remain in place, including Japanese matte white tile, organic curved walls, polished concrete floors, and iridescent fixtures. Nature continues to be a key element, with tropical plants bringing the outside-in. New to this location, a mid-century inspired seating area, designed for events and guests to relax, is central to the space. It spotlights the first iteration of John Elliott furniture, including a custom, half-moon shaped sofa and a lounge chair that’s constructed from one continuous piece of iron and resin. Lighting has been upgraded too, with a gridded repetition of linear fixtures that are laid out to embrace natural light and create various rooms within the space.
John Elliott Madison is a signifier of where the brand is headed, with luxury adjacencies in one of New York’s most esteemed neighborhoods. It’s the biggest space, and most ambitious build to date.
