Khaite Opens New Madison Avenue Store

The Boutique Is the Brand’s Second Location in Manhattan

Khaite has opened its second store in Manhattan, located at the corner of Madison Avenue and 69th Street, expanding the brand’s footprint in New York City. This new uptown store complements Khaite’s flagship location on Mercer Street and was designed in collaboration with architect Griffin Frazen.

Spanning about 2,000 square feet, the store features a meticulously crafted interior that draws inspiration from Japanese tatami mat principles, emphasizing refined spatial design and social customs. This approach is reflected in the store’s layout, which utilizes large format hot rolled steel plates arranged on the floor to create a modular grid that enhances movement and organization within the space.

The design integrates display elements that rise seamlessly from the steel flooring, curved through precise, hand-controlled techniques to reveal hints of bronze, adding depth and texture. These elements are designed to be multifunctional, serving as both product displays and seating areas, and are adaptable to the evolving needs of the space.

The exterior of the store has been significantly redesigned after receiving approval from local landmarks authorities. It now features seven newly designed window bays on both street sides, with solid bronze frames and large glass panels that enhance transparency and natural light. The addition of a second public entrance on 69th Street further aligns with the store’s interior layout and strengthens its connection to the neighborhood.

The Madison Avenue store will feature Khaite’s ready-to-wear and accessories collections, including exclusive products. It will also provide a selection of made-to-order exotic handbags, produced in partnership with Inversa, a U.S.-based company that sources materials from invasive python species. Additionally, the store will showcase a curated assortment of vintage jewelry selected by the brand’s style director, Vanessa de Viel Castel.
