The five-floor space houses design operations, retail, and wellness offerings under one roof
La DoubleJ has officially opened its new headquarters at Via Vigevano 18 in Milan, marking its debut at Salone del Mobile with a building designed to serve both as a multifunctional workspace and a public venue. Founder J.J. Martin unveiled the five-floor space this week, using the design fair as an opportunity to showcase new pieces from the homeware collection and introduce what she calls the “LDJ Starquarters.”
The new site combines the brand’s operations under one roof, with design studios, content production spaces, and a showroom. Martin also intends the building to function as a public-facing community hub, particularly for a group she refers to as the “Sisterhood.” The top floor, called the “Galactic Deck,” features a panoramic view of the Milan skyline and is home to a wellness area for yoga, meditation, and sound healing sessions.
At the center of the wellness area is a custom gong embedded with meteorite fragments. Fabricated by Pauline Fabry, the gong was submerged in sulfuric waters off the island of Vulcano during a full moon and later forged in a fire ceremony at Mount Etna. Milan-based artist JoAnn Tan created a surrounding altar, composed of painted wood, glass, copper, and oversized paper flowers.
Martin and Fabry met in Ibiza two years ago. To mark the opening, they held a cacao ceremony and gong session prior to Salone del Mobile. “When we activated and initiated this space with my tight community the other night…all of us were talking about the ways how we at La DoubleJ can support them,” Martin said. She plans to hold twice-weekly wellness sessions, some open to the public and others reserved for employees, with events also planned featuring guest teachers.
The headquarters’ design reflects Martin’s aim to combine brand identity with other forms of creative expression. Murals by Pictalab appear at the building’s entrance, and kinetic installations from past collections are installed on the rooftop. Additional facilities are still under development, including a café called “Solar Station,” a showroom for extended home goods, and a space for the “Fantastic Creatures” line, set to launch later in the year. The building currently houses the Napoli Rosa line, Martin’s 2023 book “Mamma Milano,” and the archive, along with her office and studio, which are nearing completion.
The new Milan headquarters follows La DoubleJ’s recent expansion with a retail location in Palm Beach, Florida. Martin positions the building as a step toward offering a lifestyle-oriented experience that integrates both the brand’s employees and its external community.
