"Play with Icons" Ad Campaign

Review of Lacoste “Play with Icons” Ad Campaign by Photographer Tyler Mitchell with models Venus Williams, Novak Djokovic, Adèle Exarchopoulos, Pierre Niney, and Wang Yibo

Lacoste’s latest campaign, Play With Icons, reasserts the brand’s status as a cultural shape-shifter—one equally rooted in legacy and reinvention. Photographed by Tyler Mitchell, the visuals are sleek, surreal, and crisply stylized, placing the brand’s icons—the polo, the pleated skirt, the crocodile—within modern mythologies built around its celebrity ambassadors.

Novak Djokovic stands draped in a golden tennis net like a monarch of sport, while Venus Williams rises goddess-like from sculptural pleats, redefining elegance through athletic power. Adèle Exarchopoulos brings quiet rebellion to the Lenglen bag, cheekily reimagined as a tennis skirt; Wang Yibo receives a bouquet of Lacoste polos in a nod to cult fame; and Pierre Niney lounges with the brand’s emblem as furniture, folding French wit into visual minimalism.

It’s a campaign rooted in reverence, but not without play—the perfect balance of sport and spectacle, legacy and personality. Lacoste’s classics aren’t just worn; they’re performed.
