New York Fashion Brand Le Père Opens First Flagship Store in the Lower East Side at Corner of Orchard & Broome
Le Père is proud to announce the opening of their flagship retail space located at 90 Orchard Street in the heart of the Lower East Side on Saturday, October 14th.
The 1000 square foot space ties the brand to a neighborhood that reflects Le Père’s innovative and experimental design agenda – the Lower East Side is a hub for Le Père’s creative community. With its strong connection to the street, the new store radiates outwards and invites guests in to explore the space. The design scheme blurs the lines between a store, a home and an art studio – a space that is both aspirational and livable, combining contemporary and historic elements as a playful strategy.
Bond Architecture worked with Le Père on a store design that is bold, yet minimal and restrained. With large windows overlooking the street, the space maintains a sense of transparency and simplicity, allowing the vibrant garments on display to shine. The design utilizes a limited material palette: while the majority of the space is kept white, the fitting area is highlighted as a pocket of bright yellow color. Together with additional elements in black and red, the design brings in colors frequently used in the neighborhood’s signs and industrial elements. The store features custom furniture pieces designed by Bond founders Noam Dvir and Daniel Rauchwerger and fabricated by the design and art studio Lesser Miracle along with vintage pieces.
Bond designed the store to feel like a canvas, highlighting the design elements of the clothes while ensuring the space is a place that creators feel encouraged to spend time in. Outside the store is a large scale billboard that the brand will use to showcase the art of its collaborators, rotating artists on a seasonal cadence. The space will host events with the Le Père community including art exhibitions, album listening parties, creator panels, discussions, and workshops.
At the time of opening, the boutique will carry the Fall/Winter 2023 collection titled And Sometimes Boys. Inspired by the work of Korean visual artist Nam June Paik, the collection explores the intersection of digital media with the physical world of fine art and iterates on Père’s central themes of sensual masculinity with traditional streetwear.
The space will also allow the brand a canvas to display upcoming campaigns, including Spring/Summer 2024 featuring Anwar Hadid. The collection, titled Masculin Féminin, takes visual inspiration from French New Wave cinema and the work of directors such as Jean-Luc Godard and envisions Hadid, the artist, living and working in their space of creative solitude.
