THE VIBE
Everyday characters, Sartorial Singularity, Traditional Vs Technical
Life just got serious, and designers are using it as the perfect opportunity to forgo fantasy and deal – read dress – with what their customers need in the real world.
Yet, this has never been a concern for Lemaire who have made a name for themselves providing desirable designs that are made to be lived in, not saved for a special occasion but purposely used as part of an active lifestyle, albeit a very chic one. The main intention for today’s collection was to celebrate “the lives of real characters – their individuality, desires and sartorial needs”, and from the outerwear to the knitwear there was a methodical process that is used to build each look with boxy shapes worn over voluminous layers to create a play on structure.
What Lemaire do so well is also the merging of the traditional with the technical as trench coats were developed in crisp-nylons and parkas in lab-coat white were layered under a tweed car coat, while a look of a midnight blue anorak, denim trucker and leather pants worn by a silver-haired male model demonstrated how they bring together a range of multi-generational characters that keep the brand grounded in reality.
THE DIRECTION
THE WRAP UP
This isn’t one and done dressing, at Lemaire it’s a sartorial game that challenges the wearer to find function in everything they own, and more than that to live in what they own everyday.
