Loewe’s Salone 2025 Teapot Showcase

A new collection of 25 artist-designed teapots celebrates global craftsmanship and the art of tea culture in Milan

For Salone del Mobile 2025, Loewe presents Teapots, a new exhibition of one-of-a-kind teapots created by 25 internationally renowned artists, designers, and architects. On view at Palazzo Citterio in Milan from April 8–13, the collection continues Loewe’s tradition of merging heritage craft with contemporary design.

Each contributor reimagines the teapot as a sculptural object, drawing on global tea traditions and their own artistic vocabularies. “Rose Wylie’s teapot takes inspiration from British Royal Albert china tea sets, with an exaggerated lid and fluted detailing, while frayed ribbons of clay wrap around Jane Yang-D’Haene´s elongated teapot.” Others experimented with texture, glaze, and scale, using materials like porcelain, ceramic, and leather.

“Shallow perforations that enable light to pierce through cover the surface of Akio Niisato’s teapot and ridges run across the entire surface of Takayuki Sakiyama’s, which appears to swirl upward from a continuous piece of clay.”

“Woven leather handles top both Simone Fattal and Shozo Michikawa’s teapots, while David Chipperfield’s glazed cobalt blue design is adorned with a copper handle.”

“Michikawa’s stretches horizontally while Deng Xiping’s extends vertically, with its handle and spout positioned on a diagonal.”

“Both Lu Bin and Madoda Fani have chosen to leave their teapots unglazed, featuring a rich red surface and a porosity that allows the flavours of the tea to seep into the clay.”

The show is accompanied by a new selection of Loewe-designed homewares: leather-woven coasters, botanical charms, Galician clay teapots, and a gold-brushed Earl Grey candle in a lustreware vessel. Loewe also collaborated with Kyoto’s Kaikado to produce embellished tin tea caddies in three sizes, including a 400g version housed in a woven leather case.

To mark the season, Loewe and Postcard Teas have created Fiori e Sapori (Flowers and Flavours), a tea blend featuring Indian black tea, lemon verbena, roses, camomile, and Calabrian bergamot oil. It will be available exclusively via Postcard Teas starting April 7.

Loewe’s 2025 edition reflects the house’s ongoing exploration of materiality and collaboration, following past Salone projects dedicated to stick chairs, basketry, and hand-crafted lamps.
