The Exhibition Will Be Held at the Museum of Art Pudong in Shanghai
Loro Piana is celebrating its 100th anniversary with a landmark exhibition at the Museum of Art Pudong in Shanghai, set to run from March 22 to May 5, 2025. This event marks the first time the museum, a cultural landmark designed by Ateliers Jean Nouvel, will collaborate with a luxury house since its inception in 2021.
The exhibition, curated by Judith Clark, offers an immersive retrospective of Loro Piana’s rich family history and heritage. It features a meticulously curated display of archival visuals, artworks, and garments specially commissioned for the event. These pieces are crafted to not only embody the brand’s detailed processes but also to engage in a dialogue with the artworks showcased, offering a tactile and sensorial exploration of Loro Piana’s craftsmanship and its world of fibers, fabrics, icons, and symbols.
This retrospective is particularly significant as it highlights China’s pivotal role in Loro Piana’s history and growth, especially in terms of cashmere production. The exhibition pays homage to the brand’s beginnings in China and its enduring partnerships with local herders and communities who have helped preserve the heritage of cashmere.
