Louis Vuitton Celebrates Louis Vuitton x Murakami with a Soho NYC Pop-Up

Louis Vuitton Celebrates Murakami Collab with NYC Pop-Up

The Colorful Retail Installation Features a Range of Themed Activations

Louis Vuitton has inaugurated a special pop-up in Soho in celebration of the re-edition of the house’s collaboration with artist Takashi Murakami. The temporary installation, inspired by Tokyo’s iconic modular hotels, features a minimalist design segmented into colorful, purpose-specific areas connected by a sleek corridor. The pop-up is unique in the U.S., dedicated exclusively to the re-edition, and will be open throughout January.

The venue offers a comprehensive array of the new Louis Vuitton x Murakami merchandise, an exhibition of the original collection’s highlights, a care station for the maintenance of vintage pieces, and a café. Notably, the basement houses a cinema screening two Superflat films by Takashi Murakami, originally released in conjunction with the 2003 collection and now presented in digitally enhanced versions.

In the retail section, shoppers can explore items such as the Monogram Multicolore and Superflat Panda designs. Purchases come with a token for an onsite vending machine that dispenses exclusive Louis Vuitton x Murakami stickers, trading cards, and portable games.

The exhibition area features a retrospective on the groundbreaking original Louis Vuitton collection with Takashi Murakami, displaying seminal works like the Eye Love Monogram and Monogram Multicolore, as well as more rare pieces.

A key highlight is the care station, underscoring Louis Vuitton’s commitment to sustainability by offering repair and restoration services for items from the original Murakami collections.

The cinema space offers a nostalgic look back with the Superflat Monogram and Superflat First Love films, inviting visitors to immerse themselves in a fantastical narrative inspired by Alice in Wonderland, reinterpreted through the lens of Japanese animation and the artistic vision of Murakami.

Additionally, for one weekend in January, the café will serve drinks and baked goods in an ambiance enriched with Murakami flower cushions, complemented by custom-designed Louis Vuitton x Murakami cups and napkins.

This Soho pop-up is part of a global series of activations in cities including London, Milan, Seoul, Shanghai, Singapore, and Tokyo, with the Tokyo location poised to be the largest. Each city offers its unique take on the celebration, such as tram takeovers in Milan and a bespoke ice cream shop in Seoul.
