Louis Vuitton Debuts La Beauté, Its First Make-Up Collection

The Maison formalizes its collaboration with Pat McGrath as it launches its first cosmetics line

Louis Vuitton has announced the launch of its first make-up line, La Beauté, debuting this August in China. The line marks the Maison’s latest extension into beauty, introducing lipsticks, balms, and eyeshadows in permanent objets d’art–style packaging. The collection will launch digitally on August 25 and will be available in China from August 20.

The brand has appointed Dame Pat McGrath DBE as Creative Director, Cosmetics for La Beauté. Known for her runway and editorial work, McGrath brings over 30 years of experience to Louis Vuitton, formalizing her long-standing collaboration with the house’s fashion arm into a permanent beauty role.

Louis Vuitton’s history with beauty dates back to the 1920s, when the Maison designed custom vanity cases for clients including soprano Marthe Chenal and composer Jan Paderewski. These archival designs informed the La Beauté collection, which blends Louis Vuitton’s heritage of travel accessories with modern formulations.

At the core of the collection are 55 lipstick shades—referencing the Roman numerals for LV—offered in both satin and matte finishes. Each lipstick is composed of an 85% skincare base using upcycled waxes of rose, jasmine, and mimosa, along with shea butter and hyaluronic acid for hydration and comfort.

Complementing the lipstick is the LV Baume range, a series of 10 sheer glow balms that emphasize hydration and a lightweight finish. For eyes, LV Ombres introduces eight palettes, each containing four shades in varying finishes from matte to glitter.

In a first for the brand, fragrance intersects with make-up through lipsticks scented by Louis Vuitton Master Perfumer Jacques Cavallier Belletrud, with notes of mimosa, jasmine, and rose.

Industrial designer Konstantin Grcic created the packaging, which emphasizes durability and refillability. Products are housed in refillable cases with locking systems designed exclusively for the line, positioning them as lasting objects rather than disposable products.

A limited run of lipstick pouches and Nice Beauty Cases will accompany the launch, reflecting three of the debut lipstick shades: Monogram Rouge, Rouge Louis, and Tender Bliss.

In addition to the core make-up collection, Louis Vuitton will introduce a new Vanity Trunk, inspired by a 1920s design by Pierre-Émile Legrain. A series of small leather goods, including travel cases for brushes and lipsticks, will also be available.
