Review of Louis Vuitton Holiday 2022 Ad Campaign by Creative Director Adrián González-Cohen with Photographer Ethan James Green, with models Babacar N’doye, Cheikh Dia, Denise Ascuet, Jade Nguyen, Klara Kristin, Mathilde Henning, Mathilde Brok Brandi, Teo Fortin, Theresa Hayes, and Thibaud Charon.
Taking to the ski slopes for its festive season opener, Louis Vuitton’s holiday campaign keeps it cosy and chic for those driving home for Christmas, in a campaign by Creative Director Adrián González-Cohen, and Photographer Ethan James Green.
In both the film – directed by Gary Freedman – and campaign stills, the houses models Babacar N’doye, Jade Nguyen, and Mathilde Brok Brandi are joined by Louis Vuitton’s monogrammed mascot Vivienne and a whimsical plush teddy friend, who hit the slopes which in turn serves as the backdrop for the campaign shoot. A crisp white winter wonderland revives the joys of outdoor living, and will have viewers looking forward to the snow days to come. Runway looks are made more wearable when modelled alongside more daytime ensembles, but the real stars of the season remain the luxury houses bread-and-butter, and those are the accessories. Featuring in each shot, expertly draped Twist MM bags in luxury leathers, special editions rendered in gold, and diamond-encrusted jewels that will sparkle under the stars all express the breadth of the houses holiday product offer. Despite the campaign images conveying the sense of togetherness the season brings, a multi-generational approach could have been taken to truly encompass and display the gift-giving options available for all.
The Impression’s Mark Wittmer had this to add “Louis Vuitton has always distinguished itself from other high-caliber luxury houses by its sense of adventure and charm, and the Vivienne mascot is a smartly conceived embodiment of this characteristic.” Wittmer states. “Tapping into what is most fun and universally likable about the house’s ethos, her adventures are always warmly told and beautifully animated. This campaign is no exception, and finds an especially strong feeling of warmth in its celebration of holiday togetherness.”
A makeshift construction of iconic Louis Vuitton luggage – which form part of the Art of Living collection – would be any luxury-lovers dream Christmas tree and encapsulate a light-hearted version of the brands art de vivre.
