The shortlist spans 20 independent watchmakers from 11 countries
Louis Vuitton has announced the 20 semi-finalists for the second edition of its Watch Prize for Independent Creatives, marking the second iteration of the prestigious award that highlights innovation in contemporary watchmaking. Selected from over 300 submissions from more than 50 countries, the finalists represent a diverse range of independent practices—encompassing technical experimentation, design-led approaches, and artisanal craft.
Among the notable semi-finalists are the United States entry, JN Shapiro’s Resurgence, duo Petermann Bédat showcasing their Seconde Morte, and Anton Suhanov with his distinctive St. Petersburg Easter Egg Tourbillon Clock. Each presents unique expressions of mechanical artistry, and all selected entrants will now undergo evaluation by a committee of industry experts led by Jean Arnault, Director of Watches at Louis Vuitton.
Created as a platform to champion creative freedom in watchmaking, the prize is open to designers, artisans, entrepreneurs, and small independent brands. The prize aims to foster independent craft by offering the winner a €150,000 award and year-long mentorship from La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton, the house’s Geneva-based watchmaking workshop.
The selection process continues in the fall, as a committee of 65 watchmaking experts will evaluate the semi-finalists based on five criteria: design, creativity and audacity, details and finishes, complexity, and technical innovation. Louis Vuitton is set to reveal the five finalists and the final jury on December 15th, with the grand finale scheduled for March 24, 2026, in Paris.
