Louis Vuitton continues its strong commitment to the arts by displaying a handpicked collection of unique collaborations and original artworks from renowned worldwide artists at the inaugural Paris+ par Art Basel, a significant new contemporary and modern art market.
Louis Vuitton will present 43 pieces by a handpicked group of the world’s most recognized artists as part of the first Paris+ par Art Basel art festival, which will take place from the 19th to the 23rd of October at the Grand Palais Éphémère in Paris. A Van Gogh silk scarf by Jeff Koons, a branded skateboard by Stephen Sprouse, and a travel trunk redesigned by Cindy Sherman are among the standout artist collaborations on exhibit in the Louis Vuitton booth.

A wax figure of Yayoi Kusama by the artist is on display, as is a panda figure sculpture on a vintage Louis Vuitton trunk by Takashi Murakami; paintings by Richard Prince and Alex Katz, as well as a photo by Jean Larivière. Going even further back in time, Henri Matisse and Francis Picabia commissioned distinct original trunk designs in 1909.The now-iconic Artycapucines Collection by Louis Vuitton will be on display. Since 2019, famous worldwide artists such as Alex Israel, Beatriz Milhazes, Vik Muniz, Henry Taylor, Donna Huanca, Zeng Fanzhi, Urs Fischer, Zhao Zhao, and Tschabalala Self have brought their distinct creative visions to the Capucines bag’s modern classic design. For the first time, all of the bags in the collection will be on display at Paris+ par Art Basel.

By taking part in the inaugural edition of Paris+ par Art Basel, the Maison confirms its close and committed relationship with the arts, which began nearly a century ago when Gaston-Louis Vuitton, the grandson of the Maison’s founder, began commissioning artists to collaborate on advertisements and perfume bottles.

Since 1988, Louis Vuitton has continued this legacy by collaborating with some of the most prominent names in modern art and design, including Sol LeWitt, James Rosenquist, Cesar, and Olafur Eliasson, and curating exhibitions in its in-store galleries by artists such as Sophie Calle, Dan Flavin, and Francesca Woodman. In 2014, the Maison unveiled the monumental Fondation Louis Vuitton in Paris, built by Frank Gehry, reinforcing its ongoing aim to expose the greatest modern and contemporary art to new audiences.

Louis Vuitton will exhibit at Paris+ by Art Basel, which takes place from the 19th to the 23rd of October 2022 at the Grand Palais Éphémère, 2 Place Joffre, 75007 Paris, France.
