Review of Louis Vuitton x Yayoi Kusama 2023 Ad Campaign by Photographer Steven Meisel with models Anok Yai, Fei Fei Sun, and Gisele Bündchen
Louis Vuitton reunites with living legend Yayoi Kusama for a special capsule and a campaign by photographer Steven Meisel.
The new collection arrives ten years after the first partnership between Kusama and Louis Vuitton, which was one of the most memorable and coveted collaborations between a fashion house and an artist in recent decades.
First announced a few weeks ago with a teaser campaign, the follow-up collaboration gets another campaign treatment characterized by the contemporary art icon’s signature polka dots ahead of its January 1st launch in stores. While the artist’s work definitely is the star of the campaign, Meisel’s classic black-and-white portrait style juxtaposes an elegant backdrop with her playful painting, while the presence of supermodel Gisele Bündchen is also sure to up the campaign’s cultural impact.
Marrying classic French fashion elegance with the irrepressibly whimsical spirit of Kusama’s avant-garde artwork, the campaign is a layered reminder of the power of collaboration.
