The Iconic Creative Director Talks About Wearing The Other Shoe in His Latest Creation of An Artisanal Collection and Art Co-op

Founded in 2018, Morphine is a fashion culture hub and a curated commerce platform based on a responsible mindset. An incubator of everything that is unique, rare and individual, Morphine offers upcycled artisanal cycles, designer vintage pieces and collectable print.

The cycles express the Morphine ethos in a proactive form within the frame of the fashion brand. The very idea of the brand, however, is turned upside down: what’s new, in fact, derives from the artisanal transformation of deadstock and leftovers, while series of garments are replaced with one-of-a-kind pieces that defy traditional barriers of gender and season and retain a crafty, intensely human feel. As the product of a commune of like minded peers, Morphine intends creativity as sharing and exchanging knowledge and skills.

By giving new life to what is considered leftover or simply passé, and reawakening deadstocks, Morphine relies on the regenerative powers of the act of making, promoting timelessness as a responsible and creative value, and an idea of uniqueness that is democratic instead of elitist. By bringing bespoke and handmade into the everyday, in fact, Morphine fosters beauty as culture, with an ethical stance.

Morphine Compendium 01: Pazzesca merges different cycles and collaborations into one cohesive, romantic yet grounded narrative that follows a chromatic flow. The thirty-seven looks are intensely tactile: the loving product of an atelier nostrano applying crochet, filet embroidery and artisanal mending to archetypal pieces such as bombers, sweatshirts and knits, t-shirts, shirts, dresses, trousers, shorts, bags. Colors move from pale shades of beige, alabaster and ivory to rosy hues of pink, coral and rose to soothing notes of indigo, blue and cobalt to organic tones of amber lush ginger and finally settle in the chromatic depth of black, cerulean and ash. Uneven overdyeing on jersey and cottons is the result of a process of water and dye recycling perfected by Stamperia Castelnuovo in Prato. The chromatic and textural modulations retain an emotional straightforwardness.

True to the communal spirit of Morphine, Compendium 01: Pazzesca is a collective effort, and includes collaborations with One Of One Studio for denim, Alessandro Gaggio for jewels, Gianluca Persia for hats, Jury Schiavi And Elena Bucciarelli for masks and balaclavas, and Francesca Mocali For ceramic wigs. The imprint of each author further augments the singular unity of the message.

As a Compendium, Pazzesca is an act in which the overall message and the singularity of each piece equally matter. One of a kind is affirmed as a way of being, dressing, behaving.
