The Latest Chapter Extends the Retro-Futurist Design Vision, and Will Be Celebrated with Global Pop-Ups
Maison Margiela and Gentle Monster have announced the launch of their third collaborative eyewear collection, set to arrive on March 6. This new line continues the collaborators’ exploration of combining classical elements with futuristic designs, featuring 20 unique eyewear styles that incorporate cybercore themes, metallic materials, and Maison Margiela’s signature four white stitches.
The collection is composed of 8 sunglasses and 12 optical frames, showcasing a variety of bold metallic colors including silver and green, alongside classic hues such as black, gray, navy, ivory, red, and tortoiseshell. Each piece stands out with its avant-garde end-tip designs, which are meant to make a statement.
Reflecting the theme of futurism and innovation that both brands are known for, the campaign for this collection depicts a dynamic and tension-filled interaction between two futuristic, unidentified figures. This creative direction underscores the brands’ commitment to pushing the boundaries of fashion and design.
In celebration of this latest chapter of the collaboration, special pop-up spaces will be set up in seven cities globally. These installations are conceived to extend the design narrative of classicism meeting futurism, featuring cybercore-inspired abstract human forms, raw patterns, and sheer materials that strike a balance between grandiose scale and controlled movement. The design of these spaces is closely tied to the collection, with cable temple details from the eyewear echoed in the layout and overall aesthetic, creating a unified visual identity.
