Spring 2024 Collection To Be The Last For The Foreseeable Future
Mara Hoffman has announced that she will pause her business after 24 years, with the spring 2024 collection being the company’s final offering for the time being.
In an email sent out on Sunday, Hoffman stated that the break will give her “the space to reset and redirect [her] vision and energy into other creative outlets.” She indicated that the brand will continue selling this final collection and existing pieces until inventory is depleted.
Hoffman expressed deep gratitude for her long tenure in the industry. “It has been nothing short of extraordinary and it has made me who I am,” she said. She also emphasized her ongoing support for those in the industry working towards positive change, stating, “I will forever remain an advocate and supporter of the tireless work being done by the exceptional people working in this space. The ones fighting for a new version.”
Hoffman launched her eponymous label in 2000 after graduating from Parsons School of Design. As president and creative director, she focused on sustainable materials, processes, and production. In 2023, she received the CFDA Environmental Sustainability Award.
To all who have seen themselves in this work, who have felt included and loved through this vision. It has been an extraordinary honor to adorn you, to be the village dressmaker, to help in some small way to uplift the way you see yourself. You are SO beautiful. When we, the women, heal, the planet heals.
THANK YOU, I LOVE YOU, AND I CAN NOT WAIT TO FIND YOU IN MY NEXT CHAPTER.
Thank you to my family and close ones who have held me always, through so many versions and now, through what feels like the “main event” of my life. Thank you for holding up the mirror and reminding me that this is just the beginning. I am so grateful and so excited.

Despite stepping back, Hoffman remains optimistic about the potential for positive change. “Knowing that there are so many incredible people working toward new systems, technology and legislation, we have a chance at this,” she said. Hoffman acknowledged that pausing the business has been one of the hardest decisions she has ever made. She is looking forward to a period of rest and to welcoming “beautiful new invitations into my life.”
