Matthew M. Williams to Launch Solo Label at Paris Fashion Week

Former Givenchy designer will present men’s and women’s collections at Seiya Nakamura showroom

Matthew M. Williams is set to unveil a new independent fashion project under his own name in Paris during Men’s Fashion Week. The debut collection, encompassing both menswear and womenswear, will be presented at the Seiya Nakamura showroom from June 26 through July 1. Paris Fashion Week for Spring 2026 runs from June 24 to June 29.

Williams is personally funding the new brand and collaborating with long-standing suppliers he has worked with over the past two decades. These include a Japanese denim mill, an American jersey manufacturer, and a Spanish artisanal shoemaker.

The designer previously held the role of creative director at Givenchy for three years and is the cofounder of 1017 Alyx 9SM, which launched in 2015. That label became recognized for its utilitarian aesthetic and industrial influences, along with partnerships involving Nike, Moncler, and Audemars Piguet. In late 2023, Adrian Cheng, a Hong Kong-based entrepreneur, acquired a majority stake in 1017 Alyx 9SM. The brand last showcased a collection in June 2024.

Originally from Chicago and raised in Pismo Beach, California, Williams entered fashion through production roles and gained early visibility as creative director for Lady Gaga. His design approach prioritizes materials and construction over seasonal themes, with an emphasis on traditional garment forms and detail-driven finishing.

The Seiya Nakamura showroom will also feature collections from Craig Green, Taiga Takahashi, Arpa Studio, Amomento, Song for the Mute, Khoki, and Edward Cuming.
